In a landmark decision, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has fined Intel Corporation ₹27.38 crore for discriminatory warranty practices that stifled competition and consumer choice in the Indian technology market.
This ruling underscores the CCI's vigilance against anti-competitive practices in the tech industry. The case originated from a 2019 complaint by Matrix Info Systems Pvt Ltd, a Delhi-based parallel trader, which accused Intel of restricting access to repair services through its warranty policies.
